SUPPORTING AND DEVELOPING PERSON CENTRED DIGITAL CARE

COVID-19 has accelerated remote consulting in a way few people could have imagined 12 months ago.

Now, for most patients, first contact with a clinician will be via telephone or a virtual appointment. Whilst this is absolutely necessary while social distancing measures are in place, once it is safe to return to appointments, will there still be an appetite amongst the public and clinicians for digital care?

Redmoor-ELC would argue the answer is yes – as long as that care is person centred.

The principle of person centred care and personalisation is now well established in policy and best practice. Being person centred is critical to outcomes and quality of NHS services. However, it is still early days in the exploration of person-centred digital care.

With clinicians reporting at the recent RCGP conference that remote care models feel much more transactional and less personal, can we shape the future support system leaders to support clinical teams and the personalised care workforce to better understand and replicate best practice in person centred care wherever video consultations and clinics are delivered?

Redmoor-ELC wants to help lead the direction of this conversation. For that reason, we are bringing together a broad church of clinicians, practitioners and managers who have been working to shift person-centred care and support online over the last 12 months to share experiences and shape the debate:

Wednesday 14 July 12.30- 13.45

This forum will be a safe space to reflect together on:

  • Where digital models of care fit within the personalisation agenda
  • Which groups of people might benefit most from digital care
  • The opportunities and challenges of realising person centred digital care
  • The new skills our workforce needs to develop in order to empower and support them to deliver person centred digital care.

Following the session, we will produce a summary paper to help system leaders with their plans to support person centred digital care in 2021 and beyond.
